| About the Artist |
| Cary Galbraith grew up in Pelham Manor, New York where her talent flourished at an early age due to her father. Her father William R Galbraith IV was a passionate artist and self made advertising executive. His coveted works are in public and private collections around the world. Cary received her formal training from the Philadelphia College of Art, The Phoenix School of Design, NYC and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia. She has been painting for many years and has displayed her work in a variety of art centers and shows. Her work is in private collections around the country. She continues to study her craft and has attended workshops with renowned portrait artists such as Nelson Shanks and Igor Babailov. Cary is a member of the Portrait Society of America. |

Procedure for Commissioning a Portrait |
| The portrait process begins with a discussion of the wishes of the client. Initially, topics to be discussed will include the size and complexity of the portrait, which medium will best express the personality of the subject and whether the portrait is to be informal or formal. A price will be given after the initial discussion. At the first photo sitting, which can usually take from one to two hours, about 100 photos will be taken, with various gestures and lighting conditions. Recommendations for the appropriate poses will be made, but the final decision is always up to the client. If none are satisfactory, an additional sitting will be scheduled. After a selection has been made of the image and background, an initial rough color sketch will be provided to help the client visualize the final piece. After approval of the sketch, arrangements will be made for the delivery of the final portrait, with an approximate date of completion. |
